Deep Inelastic Structure Functions in a Covariant Spectator Model
Deep-inelastic structure functions are studied within a covariant scalar diquark spectator model of the nucleon. Treating the target as a two-body bound state of a quark and a scalar diquark, the Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE) for the bound state vertex function is solved in the ladder approximation. The valence quark distribution is discussed in terms of the solutions of the BSE. PACS numbers: ...
متن کاملFroissart Boundary for Deep Inelastic Structure Functions
In this letter we derive the Froissart boundary in QCD for the deep inelastic structure function in low x kinematic region. We show that the comparison of the Froissart boundary with the new HERA experimental data gives rise to a challenge for QCD to explain the matching between the deep inelastic scattering and real photoproduction process. ∗ E-mail: [email protected] ∗∗ E-mail:[email protected]...
متن کاملPhenomenology of Deep Inelastic Scattering Structure Functions
I review recent progress in analysing deep inelastic scattering structure functions in global analyses. The new ingredients are new data and attempts to incorporate heavy quarks consistently. A new way of including the resummation of large log 1/x terms is discussed. INTRODUCTION Since we last met in Rome last year there has been progress in our understanding of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) ...
متن کاملDeep Inelastic Structure Functions at two Loops
We present the analytic calculation of the Mellin moments of the structure functions F2, F3 and FL in perturbative QCD up to second order corrections and in leading twist approximation. We calculate the 2-loop contributions to the anomalous dimensions of the singlet and non-singlet operator matrix elements and the 2-loop coefficient functions of F2, F3 and FL. We perform the inverse Mellin tran...

ν = q · P M = E − E′ is the lepton’s energy loss in the nucleon rest frame (in earlier literature sometimes ν = q · P ). Here, E and E′ are the initial and final lepton energies in the nucleon rest frame. Q2 = −q2 = 2(EE′−−→k · −→k ′)−m2 −m2 ′ where m (m ′) is the initial (final) lepton mass. If EE′ sin2(θ/2) m2 , m2 ′ , then ≈ 4EE′ sin2(θ/2), where θ is the lepton’s scattering angle with respe...
